Among the world’s most incredible artifacts is the key to immortality itself. Featured in Rise of the Tomb Raider, the Divine Source was an ancient relic which granted immunity to death, aging, illness and injury. But this blessing came at a price, for the Source would take the soul of whoever gazed upon it.

While we know nothing about how the Divine Source came into being, it was first discovered in the 9th century A.D. by Jacob, a Byzantine man who became the Deathless Prophet as he traveled the empire performing miracles of healing. The religious following he sparked eventually drew the attention of Trinity, a fanatical organization seeking to control the world.

Trinity hunted Jacob across Asia, and even managed to kill him. Or so they thought. But despite their efforts, Trinity was never able to capture the Divine Source for itself. And so it faded into legend, forgotten to almost all…

Those legends faded through the centuries until they eventually reached Lord Richard Croft. Lara’s father searched for the Divine Source, but was assassinated by Trinity before he could reveal its truths to the world, destroying his reputation.

In the mountains of Siberia, Lara discovered the lost city of Kitezh and Jacob. But she was not alone. Led by Lord Croft’s former lover, Ana, and her brother, Konstantin, Trinity launched a full assault on both Jacob’s people and the ancient Deathless Ones guarding the artifact.

After a race against Trinity to claim it, Lara finally destroyed the Divine Source, killing Jacob and preventing Trinity from seizing the secrets of immortality.
